Raymond Keith Baker, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away, Saturday, September 15, 2018.

A visitation celebrating his life will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private graveside service with military rites will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; daughters, Barb Baker of Cedar Rapids and Patty Terpkosh of Ridgeway, IA; special companion, Callie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Raymond Keith Baker was born January 30, 1930 in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Raymond Orville and Margaret Emily (Freshwater) Baker. Keith served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1947-1949. On May 10, 1952, he married Ethel Folkmann at Keystone, Iowa. Keith worked for Link Belt Speeder for several years and then was a member of the Cedar Rapids Police Dept from 1955-1985; serving as Chief of Police from 1979-1985. He continued his education throughout much of his adult life getting degrees from Kirkwood Community College, University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the F.B.I. National Academy for Law Enforcement in Quantico, VA. He enjoyed reading, HiFi stereo equipment, sports cars, and was an accomplished marksman.
