Memorial

Lela M. Reif, of Downers Grove, Illinois formerly of Cedar Rapids died at her daughter’s home in Downers Grove on Sunday September 23, 2018. Services at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10:00 AM on Saturday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband Keith of Downers Grove, a daughter Shirley (Ed) Kucia of Downers Grove, and two sons Michael (Diana) of Laurie, Missouri and Arnold (Bonnie) of Hiawatha, and one sister Jeanette Elgin of Center Point. She is also survived by three grandchildren Keith (Leah), Tracy (Nick) and Laura (Everett); six great grandchildren Alex, Jonalyn, Andrew, Mercedes, Jade, and Nicholas. She was preceded in death by two sisters Arlene and Bea; two brothers Bob and George, and two grandchildren Kurt Reif and Edward Kucia.

Lela was born on May 3, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Robert and Dora Furman Bowler. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and married Keith A. Reif on February 15, 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia. Lela was a homemaker. She enjoyed music, playing both the guitar and accordion; camping, gardening, bowling, fishing, and traveling with her husband Keith.

Lela will forever be remembered as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew loved her.
