Rose Marie “Toni” Fletcher of Madison, Wisconsin (formerly of Cedar Rapids) passed away October 16, 2018 at Attic Angel in Madison, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:00 AM on Monday October 22 with a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, 4200 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids.

Toni was born in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1927 to Clarence and Geneva St. John. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Franker (David) of Madison, Wisconsin; a son, Robert (Haven) of Mason, Ohio; grandsons Robert (Jill) Parker of La Crosse, Wisconsin; Ned (Jacque) Parker of Story City; Evan and Grant Fletcher of Mason, Ohio; three step-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Donna Tozour of St. Petersburg, Florida. Toni was preceded in death by her husband Keith, her parents and a brother.

Toni had a strong musical talent and played clarinet in the Tri-City Symphony and the University of Iowa orchestra. She received her education degree in 1949 and taught high school English in Vinton, where she met future husband, Keith. They moved to Cedar Rapids where Keith was an avionics engineer with Collins Radio. Within a few years they were blessed with a daughter and a son.

Toni took an oil painting course when her children were young and it developed into a favorite hobby. She was a member of the Creative Artists Guild and had paintings on display in local businesses. In addition, she created much-treasured art for friends and relatives. She was a member of Chapter LU, PEO and the First Church of Christ Scientist.

Toni and Keith spent five years in Melbourne, Florida and although she treasured this as an opportunity for personal development, she was always an Iowa girl at heart, and loved the Midwest change of seasons.

Toni enjoyed European travel with her husband in their retirement. Toni’s grandchildren were always a special blessing, and she loved being with them.

Toni will be remembered as a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, friends may send contributions to the Cedar Rapids Public Library or their favorite charity.
