To the family of Alan Mengler I convey my deepest sympathy for his passing. Al was my Executive Officer when I commanded MTD 26 at the Cedar Rapids Naval Reserve and He assisted me with invaluable advise. I could not have had a better Assistant than Al.

I worked with Al for a short time at Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Company in the Gas Service Department. He was such a nice man and easy to talk to. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I met Al about 10 years ago, through being friends with his daughter Sherri. I didn't know him well, but he impressed me as a man who knew how important it was to be there for his family, community and country. My thoughts and best wishes are with his family.
