Kent Allen Stimson (58) of Marion, formerly of Kansas City, passed away on November 9, 2018 after fighting with strength and courage during his year and a half battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion on Wednesday November 14, 2018 at 10:30am. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30am. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery following the service. A luncheon and time of fellowship will take place after the burial at St. Paul’s.
Kent Stimson was born on July 19, 1960 to Ralph and Anita (Kerkman) Stimson in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a graduate of Linn-Mar High school. Kent worked as a produce manager for Hy-Vee. He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping and bonfires.
Kent’s family and friends meant the world to him.
Kent is survived by his parents Ralph and Anita; sister Karie (Tyrone) Meyer of Marion; a nephew Daniel (Amanda) Meyer and their three children Madison, Gracie, Hayden and a nephew Michael (Kristin) Meyer and their daughter Baylee.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lyle and Meada Stimson and his maternal grandparents Roy and Orpha Kerkman.
Memorial Donations may be directed to the family. At Kent’s request all donations will be directed to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
