Herman L. Boots, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018.

Public graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 9, 2018 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Eternal Love. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnne; children, Tina (Harold) Drew of Cedar Rapids, Sheila Boots of Cedar Rapids, Melody (Dennis Schnipkoweit) of Olin, Deborah (Larry) Fossel of Cedar Rapids, Tami (Dave) Dicus of Marion and Joseph (Dawn Kaplan) Boots of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Katherine Boots of Anamosa; brother, Bill (Arlene) Boots of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nellie Olsen, and three brothers, Chuck, Fred and Don.

Herman Louis Boots was born February 28, 1937 in Cedar Rapids. He married JoAnne Thompson in 1960 at Lineville, MO.  Herman worked for Bartelli Construction for many years and then as a machine operator at Midland Forge until retiring. He was very spontaneous and enjoyed being outdoors, especially camping, fishing, bonfires, and driving up and along the Mississippi river. Herman especially enjoyed being with family. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
