On behalf of The Arc of East Central Iowa we send our sympathy and prayers to the family. Dan was a special person whose heart and dedication to The Arc inspired many and made this a better world for those with special needs.

Dear Melody and family: I was shocked and saddened to learn of Dan's death. I spent many hours with him as a young lawyer many years ago on a lawsuit for the city. I'm glad he was on my side! He was a tremendous man, of great intellect and big heart. It was a privilege to know him. My sympathies to you. Bill Stone

I served with Dan on the Linn County Extension Council and worked with him on some difficult committee assignments. I remember him as the quiet "voice of reason" when decisions were being made. Bill had met him earlier in the Master Composter program. Our sympathy to your family now and in what must have been a difficult time in the last few years.

Melody & Family,
Dan was mentor in the truest and best sense of the word. I always say that I learned something from him in every conversation! I feel very fortunate to have met Dan when I did in my professional career because he really showed me the ropes that have provided endless opportunities. Dan was a visionary in the wastewater profession - the City and industry as whole were very lucky to have experienced his leadership. My family's thoughts are with your family at this difficult time.

Dear Melody and family,
Those of us who worked at Linn County Day Care with you remember Dan as a soft-spoken, loving husband and father with a quiet but enjoyable sense of humor. I'm sure that many will miss him.

Melody
You may not remember me but I roomed with Dan in a basement apartment in Kearney while we went to school. I am so sorry to hear about Dan . Please be happy in the fact that I knew him as a good man who always did the right thing. His resume only shows he never quit! May God bless you.
