Memorial

Walter was born in Cedar Rapids, the son of Flournoy and Pauline Corey. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Wolfgramm Corey.  He is also survived by two sons, Peter, wife April, and grandsons, Gavin and Pierce and by Ryan, wife Elizabeth, and grandchildren Alivia, Mason and Isaac; his sister, Elizabeth Corey Varnum and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Louise Wolfgramm; cousins Deborah and Joe Wemette; nieces and nephews Kate and Trish Varnum, Chuck and Grace Varnum, Ben and Audrey Wolfgramm, Sarah and Matt Imhoff and Madeleine Wolfgramm and many other family members and good friends.  Walt graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Business Administration and took over Pickwick Manufacturing Services in 1972, upon the death of his father.  Walt was always interested in the newest technology and was often ahead of the game in incorporating new ideas into his company; he was especially proud of acquiring the first full-sheet-flat laser in the western hemisphere.  Since that time, many other lasers and robotic equipment have been installed in the plant. He always had a deep appreciation and respect for the Pickwick family. Walt and Linda traveled the world and Walt’s most enjoyable trip was their visit to India. He especially loved the Indian culture, so different from our own, and the friendly people. He also enjoyed their trip to Australia and New Zealand, especially the Outback and learning about the Aborigine and Maori cultures.  Walt was an eternal optimist who always had a positive outlook even in the face of life’s most difficult challenges. He had strong moral values, a great sense of humor and a generous heart.  He will be missed by many all over the world.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Walt’s caregivers, Kimyama Bell, Matt Etzel, Jenn Cass, Katie Tenney and Danielle Wegner. Visitation will be at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, June 10 from 1-4 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel. Anyone who knew Walt is welcome to attend.
