Robert M Drake, 87, Cedar Rapids, passed away July 29, 2018, at Cottage Grove Place after a short illness. Per Robert’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.
Survivors include his wife, Karen, of Cedar Rapids, and his daughter, Cheryl Van Hagen, of Boulder City, Nevada. Two grandsons, and a brother, Cloyd Drake, of Hartford City, Indiana.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mable Drake.
Robert Maurice Drake was born December 27, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Robert began a career at Collins Radio in 1953 that continued until his retirement in `1986. Robert married the love of life, Karen Hagberg, on April 4, 1959 in Waterloo, Iowa. A hobby included be a licensed Ham Radio operator since January 1949. Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Army. A member of the ARRL(American Radio Relay League), the American Diabetes Association, and the Chairperson of the Neurological Support Group in Cedar Rapids starting in April 1986.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
