Raymond R. Tigges, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday July 8, 2018 in Manor Care. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with a visitation at 9:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church by Rev. Steve Garner. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home where a vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Edna, his children; Allan (Barb), Diane (Scott), David (Valerie), son-in-law, Marty (Kelly), his sisters, Annie Sloup, Susie Davis, and Marie Eischeid. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Carolyn Ross, his brothers, Hilarion, Melvin, Leander, Franklin, Victor, and Felix, and his sisters, Dorothy Pille, Alice Heithoff, Martha Buelt and Alverna Tigges.
Raymond was born March 11, 1928 in Audubon, Iowa, the son of Frank and Mary (Mattes) Tigges and grew up in Dedham, Iowa. He married Edna Willenborg on May 11, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning, Iowa. Raymond worked construction until his retirement in 1990. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, American Legion Post # 298, Disabled Veterans and Labor Union Local # 43.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church or Hospice of Mercy in memory of Raymond.
