Eleanore A. Johnson, 84, longtime resident of Hiawatha, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 14, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am Friday, July 20 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 4420 Center Point Road NE, Cedar Rapids, Ia 52402. A  Visitation will be Thursday, July 19 from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and also from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Graveside service: 3 p.m. at Memory Gardens, Iowa City.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Larry Johnson; her son, Jeff (Andrea) Johnson of St. Louis; her daughter, Cindy (Art) Abrams of Iowa City; her grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson, and Abby and Drew Abrams; and her siblings Robert and Dean Crear, and Silvia Eppley-Viehland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Helena Crear, and by five brothers and sisters.

Eleanore was born April 20, 1934, in Basco, Il. She attended Burlington Junior College, earning her teaching certificate. She taught briefly in the College Community School District. She then founded Happy Hours Preschool, providing over 2000 children the building blocks for a successful future. She also worked at Rockwell Collins for 13 years. She belonged to the P. Buckley Moss Society, Audubon Society and Iowa City Swedish Club. Eleanore also  served on the Recreation Commission for the City of Hiawatha. She was a long-time member of St. Andrew, serving on several committees. Eleanore was a warm and caring person who showed kindness to everyone. She was witty, intelligent, engaging and had the knack for making everyone she met feel good. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids in Memory of Eleanore.
