Nancy Sue Downing, 75 of Marion died Monday January 15, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday.
Survivors include her husband Marlyn; two sons Michael (Kaye) of California and Lanny (Katie) of Marion; and a sister Pat Swiger of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Scott and a brother Tom
Nancy was born on July 17, 1942 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Stick Kennedy and graduated from Washington High School in 1959. Nancy married Marlyn M. Downing on March 24, 1962 in Cedar Rapids.
Nancy worked in assembly at Collins and retired from there after eleven years of service. She volunteered at Tanager Place and also as a reader at Truman elementary school. She enjoyed the time spent with her friends and beloved family.
Nancy will be forever remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
