Francis “Frank” Gordon Hinds, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 2:00 pm Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with visitation one hour prior to service. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Frank was born September 8, 1920, the son of Frank and Florence (Whiteway) Hinds, in Framingham, Massachusetts. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII where he was a flight engineer on the B17 and part of the 303rd Bombardment Group.
On January 22, 1945, he was married to Clarice Elizabeth Coppess. She passed away in 2015. Frank was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Marion and the Masonic Lodge in Marion.
Survivors include his son, Larry (Susan) Hinds; two granddaughters, Sara (Tom) Hanley, Kerrin (Clint) Andrle; seven great-grandchildren, Grace, Mason, Mary, Sally, and Susan Hanley, and Milo and Jane Andrle.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and siblings.
