Dorothy Jean Reams, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday February 17, 2018 in Crestview Acres from a short illness. Services: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Debie Reams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her son, Craig (Susan) Reams of West Des Moines, Iowa, her brother, Jack (Evelyn) Carpenter of California, her granddaughter, Ashton Reams of Webster City, Iowa and her grandson, Colin Reams of West Des Moines, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Merle W. Reams, her brothers, Ed, Marvin and Bob Carpenter.
Dorothy was born March 11, 1925 in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Helen Carpenter. She married Merle W. Reams on July 6, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Dorothy was employed with the City of Cedar Rapids as an office manager. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and the Women’s Club in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy also enjoyed cooking and sewing in her spare time. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
