Carol Lorraine (Green) Axtell, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, February 02, 2018 at the Hospice Center at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1363 1st Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am. Interment: 2:00 pm Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Carol was born December 24, 1935, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Kraft) Green, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. On May 3, 1958, she was married to Darrell Axtell in Council Bluffs. Carol worked for the Corps of Engineers in Nebraska and Kentucky, and also for the Social Security Administration before retiring in 1989. 

Carol was famous for her cooking, and a top priority of hers was ensuring people in need had a good meal to eat. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran’s for Life, and the Good Samaritan’s Club. Carol enjoyed playing bridge and being a part of the Meth-Wick Community. 

Survivors include her husband, Darrell Axtell; two daughters, Laura Axtell, Susan (John) Schmidt; three grandsons, Mark Schmidt, John Schmidt, Michael Schmidt; and sister, Rose Mebane. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlotte Potter; two brothers, Charles Green and Marvin Smith.
