Arlene B. Brammer, 86 of Cedar Rapids died Friday February 2, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services at 10:30 AM on Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha where friends may call after 9:30 AM on Wednesday, Rev. Daniel Krueger will officiate. Burial at Shiloh Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband Duane, two sons Gary (Vicki) of Mt. Pleasant and Steve (Cara) of Medford, Oregon. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Wilmer.

Arlene was a born on May 29, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Emil and Olga  Carlson. She married Duane E. Brammer on November 18, 1950 in Grand River, Iowa. 

Arlene was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Salvation Army, St Luke’s Hospital and was a teacher’s aide at Wright School for many years. Arlene was a talented writer and artist; painting on shells and rocks that were given to friends and acquaintances.

Arlene and Duane after retirement worked for ten years in Yellowstone National Park and wintered 23 years at Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Arlene will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Her confidence and  faith in Jesus Christ and His promises were the rock and focus of her life.
