Marjorie “Marge” E. Meyer, 80, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Unity Point Hospital after a short battle with lung cancer.  Services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 3 to 7 PM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery

Survivors include four sons, Bruce (Kirsten) of Rolling Bay, Washington; Damon (Holly) and Todd (Diana) of Marion and Kevin (Melanie) of Cedar Rapids; four brothers Ervin (Ila) Breon, Kenneth (Jackie) Breon and Ross Breon all of Hedrick; Max (Norine) Breon of San Antonio, TX; and nine grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Marge was born on February 25, 1938 on the family farm in Hedrick, the daughter of Willis and Edna (Wimpsett) Breon.  She married Robert C. Meyer on March 27, 1965 in Hedrick.  Marge graduated from Hedrick High School in 1955 before being accepted to Parsons College in Fairfield.  There she majored in English and History, graduating in 1959.  After graduating, she thought she was too young to teach high school so she moved to Kansas City and enrolled in airline school eventually winding up in Chicago working for the North Central Airline.  Marge ended up returning to Iowa to teach in Calamus.  It was there that she met her husband Bob and settled in Lowden until 1970.  They moved to Cedar Rapids and in 1973, Marge started her career with the Cedar Rapids Public Schools.  She substituted for several years, mainly and Harding Jr. High where she ended up working as a media specialist, retiring in 2004.

Marge will forever be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
