Jerry was a man of deep faith. He always wanted to attend chapel worship at VLH. He exuded true joy of the Lord, his Savior as he entered chapel. It was a pleasure to know him and he will be missed. Mr. Stiles was a man of faith and values. He was a loving father and grandfather. I know he is greatly missed by his family. We will never forget Mr. Stiles. Sorry for your loss.

Though I’ve lost touch with him for many years, knowing his strong faith in Christ, I know I will see him again soon. If it wasn’t for the Stiles family, I don’t know if the DeHaven family would have had any connections with Grace Baptist Church. By God’s providence of course. And I came to know the Lord through this family. I remember him as being a very kind man, and loved the Lord. I grieve with the family! I’ve missed him as brother Stiles with Grace Baptist Church, and brother Stiles down the street from us where we used to live.

Brother Stiles was a kind man with deep faith in Christ. One thing that I will always remember is his beautiful singing voice. I always enjoyed sitting by him and hearing his voice. Remember when he sang in the choir with Larry Gorsch.

Grandpa was a first rate man and one of my life's great blessings. I have never known a more selfless person. Sometimes I wanted him to be a little less selfless, but that is why I will most likely be living in a shack when I get to Heaven, while Grandpa will be in a mansion. He was a model in generosity and Christ-like love. In 1999, Brad Paisley released the song, "He Didn't Have to Be". Not a time goes by when I hear the song, that I don't think of Grandpa. He legally adopted my Mother and her 2 siblings as young children, and loved them as his own. He was a loving Grandfather who helped kindle the kind of relationship I would like to have with God. Times with him were full or humor. I have many fond memories of getting in the car with him and exploring back roads and little towns in Minnesota, learning proper dancing to Guy Lombardo and Benny Goodman, listening and laughing to Jack Benny, and many long talks about life, God, the Marines, and his beloved Hawkeyes and Cubs. I cherish the laughs, conversations , dances, and time spent with him. It is a great comfort to me, to know this is only a temporary sorrow.

Family and friends gathered this week to celebrate the life of my Brother, Jerry Stiles. I have a heavy heart, but hold on to a lifetime of cherished memories of the times I had with Jerry and our family. To Oralou and family: I went to see Jerry on November 30th, and he said the sweetest thing..he asked about my family and then he said.... "family is wonderful...there just isn't anything like family". He was such an inspiration to me and he had such a love and devotion for the Lord. He was truly a sweet man, and I am better having known him. Bless you all in your time of sorrow. I apologize for missing the funeral service.
