Memorial
David S. Crockett, 83, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018. A memorial service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids Iowa on Friday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m.
Dave was born on August 22, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio to Thomas and Donna Crockett. He met his loving wife Patti Nau when they were both students at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware Ohio. Dave and Patti were married on August 25, 1956 in Detroit Michigan and enjoyed 56 wonderful years together.
After college Dave and Patti lived in Ohio, Maryland, Connecticut, and Iowa before eventually settling in Colorado and Arizona. Dave began his career as a high school history teacher and football/wrestling coach at Worthington High School in Ohio. Within a few years he transitioned to work in college admissions at Kenyon and Baldwin Wallace Colleges. Dave joined the American College Testing Program (ACT) in the early 1960’s when the organization was in its infancy. He eventually served as an ACT vice president overseeing Operations, Educational Services and Public Affairs during 25 years of service to ACT. He concluded his career as a senior vice president at Noel-Levitz where he consulted with hundreds of colleges and universities across North America. Dave was a nationally recognized authority on academic advising, student retention, and enrollment management.
Dave loved spending time with his family, playing golf, traveling and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. He and Patti were inseparable, especially in retirement, and they enjoyed shopping, movies and dining out. Dave’s belief and Love for Jesus Christ was an important part of his life. They belonged to Grace Community Church in Surprise Arizona.
Dave is survived by son David and his girlfriend, Lucia; son Kevin and his wife, Julie. Dave was preceded in death by his beloved Patti, brother Tom, and parents Thomas and Donna.
