Memorial

James LeRoy Patterson (88) of Cedar Rapids died April 22nd, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  A Funeral service will be held Friday April 27th, 2018 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories at 1pm.  A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4pm-7pm at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.   

James was born November 28th 1929 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  He graduated from Wilson High School in 1948.  James served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  

James married Elsie Rae LeMont November 5th, 1950 in Cedar Rapids Iowa and they enjoyed 67 years together. 

James worked as a lineman at Iowa Electrical Light and Power Company (Alliant Energy).  He retired from there after 37 years.  

He loved gardening, working in the yard, fishing, listening to Iowa Hawkeye football and spending time with his family.  He was a kind, generous, giving, loving friend, father, and husband.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  

James is survived by his wife Elsie Rae Patterson; two daughters Paula Patterson and Pamela (Don) Heckman; and one son James R. Patterson; ten grandchildren, Grady, Dustin, Courtney, Kyle, Cody, Adam, Amanda, Laura, Aria, Alexa and ten great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Amelia (Busch) Patterson, his daughter Patricia Camarata and a brother Robert Patterson.
