Memorial

Walter C. Tucker 101, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday September 16, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services at 3:00 PM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Entombment with military rites at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM on Friday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his son Terry of Aurora, Colorado; two grandchildren Justin of Arvada Colorado; Kelly DeKalb of Centennial Colorado; and two great grandchildren Ryan and Andrew DeKalb.   He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine; daughter-in-law Cheryl; two brothers and three sisters. 

Walter was born on December 1, 1915 in Linn County the son of Edmund and Emily Sirovy Tucker. He married Maxine R. Hodge on February 21, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. Maxine passed away in 2011. 

Walter was a patternmaker at FMC and retired from there after more than 35 years of service in 1980. He was a member of Christ Church Presbyterian. Walter proudly served in the Army during WWII with the 104th Infantry Division receiving a battle field commission, and being awarded the Bronze Star, and Combat Infantry Badge.

He enjoyed fishing, and was a skilled woodworker. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
