Norma Jean Maxwell, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Higley Mansion Care Center in Cedar Rapids after an extended illness.

Services will be private at a later date.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathleen(Mark Ordway)Ingersoll of Boston, Massachusetts, and Laura(Lisa) Maxwell of Cedar Rapids.  Grandchildren, Ryan Corona, Sara Vasquez, and Katie Corona, of Sacramento, California; Nicholas Ingersoll, Boston, Massachusetts; Danny Hack, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and ten great grandchildren.                                            

Norma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, daughter Claudia Corona Maxwell, and her parents, Hollie and Nola Rynor.

Norma Jean Maxwell was born May 23, 1930, in Corydon, Iowa, the daughter of Hollie and Nola Rynor. She graduated high school from Corydon. 

Norma married Richard Maxwell on June 23, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa.  Richard and Norma made family homes in Boston, Providence, and Chicago, before settling in Cedar Rapids. Norma worked for the State of Iowa, Des Moines, Putnam Financial, Boston and Coe College, Cedar Rapids, during her career. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking, and being with friends and family. Norma had a keen sense of humor, and was a caring mother and homemaker.
