Jilun Zhang, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sept 14th, 2017. Family will receive friends on Sat Sept 16th from 2 to 4 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom in Cedar Rapids and private family inurnment service following.

Born on July 28th, 1936 in Liaoning Province, in northern China, the fourth of five siblings. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Dr. Jiana Yuan; daughters, Dr. Sunny Zhang (Baoli Yang) of Cedar Rapids, and Dr. Kristine Zhang (Aric Kollmyer) of Olympia, WA; grandchildren, Evert and Lydia Yang, Ryker and Austin Kollmyer. 

Jilun graduated from Beijing Medical College, now Beijing University Health Science Center in 1963 and practiced as a urologist for more than 25 years. He was an outstanding surgeon and was among the first surgeons to introduce the minimally invasive prostate surgery to China. After moving to Minnesota in the early 90’s, he owned and operated an acupuncture clinics in Edina, MN till his retirement in 2003.  

Jilun was a kind, respectful, selfless, considerate, and compassionate man.  He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather whose memory will be deeply cherished by all who knew and loved him.  He will be dearly missed.
