Irene Esther O’Connor, 96, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. A Graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Iowa. Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Irene was born September 16, 1921 to Charles and Stella (Sprague) Winkler in Edgewood, Iowa. She married Marvin J. O’Connor on July 21, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He preceded her death in 1986. She is survived her nephew, Phillip Winkler of Cedar Rapids, IA; two nieces, Margaret Anne (Richard) Katholi of Springfield, IL; and Deborah Jean Winkler of Springfield, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, John (Lottie) and Carl (Margaret) Winkler.
Irene was a lifelong Masonic Lodge supporter and an Eastern Star Member. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
