Memorial

Helen T. Patterson, 93 of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday October 5, 2017 in Living Center West Care Center. Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until service time. Penny Ackerman of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Helen was born June 5, 1924 in Lovilia, Iowa, the daughter of Mike and Paulina (Farkish) Slofkosky. She married Jack W. Patterson on June 23, 1951 in Galesburg, Illinois.  Helen worked at Cedar Rapids Country Club for 25 years and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed countless hours babysitting her grandchildren while they were growing up. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always putting her family before herself. Helen also enjoyed sending the many birthday cards to her family and never missing a birthday.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  

Survivors include her children;  Jeanette DeLorenzo of Oceanside, California, Beverly Hordorowski of Memphis, Tennessee, Don Patterson of Coralville, Iowa, Gay Rasmussen and husband Emmett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sheila Patterson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Duane Patterson and wife Karene of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Lesniack and husband Al of Ridgecrest, California.  Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, her daughter, Jackie and her sons, Ron and Jay.
