Charles H. Chapman Jr. 93 of Cedar Rapids died Sunday October 8, 2017 at Cottage Grove Place. Services at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife Betty; two sons Alan (Kate) and Craig (Buck) all of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren Mark, Anne, and Adam; and two great grandchildren Mia and Alli. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary, and two sisters Adeline and Maxine.
Charles was born on March 17, 1924 in Eddyville the son of Charles and Sadie Grove Chapman Sr. He married Mary C. Abernathy on October 25, 1944 in Cedar Rapids. Mary passed away in 2011. He later married Betty Sacora on February 14, 2015 in Cedar Rapids.
Charles worked at Iowa Manufacturing and retired from there in 1986 after more than 42 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, playing as well as watching golf, and traveling to all 50 states. Charles will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
