James (Jim) W. Tully, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, November 16, 2017, after courageously fighting a long illness.

Jim was born February 10, 1944 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Richard (Dick) and Lenora (Toots) Beach Tully. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1962. He married the love of his life Linda Carman Tully on August 29, 1965 in Kirksville, Missouri and they moved to Cedar Rapids in 1966. Jim was a hard working dedicated employee working for Midland Forge for over 40 years, retiring in 2011.

Jim’s passions were wood working, spending time with his family, and camping which included always making the best campfires. Jim was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, and friend.  There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or fix and was always there to give a helping hand. Jim was known for his stories which you could listen to for hours and his sense of humor (Sarcasm). He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Linda, his three children: Lori (Mike) Goins of Nichols Iowa, Jeff Tully of Lincoln, Nebraska and Tina (Paul) Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Four grandchildren; Shane Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Austin Anderson and Ally Goins; two great granddaughters, Sky and Hunter; and a sister, Carolyn (Max) Schlarbaum of Mesa, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Tom, Larry and David Tully.

At Jim’s request there won’t be a service. To celebrate Jim’s life, a visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
