Neva Elaine Cook, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Mercy Hospice House, Hiawatha, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.  Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her children: Doug of Brandon, MS; Bob (Sheryl) of Fairfax; Steve of Mesa, AZ; Ron of Cedar Rapids; and Judy (Bill) Schwarz of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Robin (Chris) Powe; Jeremy (Susan) Cook; Adam Cook; Betsy (Brian) Harrison; Katy (Nick) Dohrmann; Ann (Mike) Williams; Alysa (Nick) Zinnel; Aaron Cook; Heather (Jamie) Anderson; Lindsay (Gavin Palma) Cook; Tyler Cook; James (Leona) Caldemeyer; Melissa (Lon) Copper; Amber (Russ, Jr.) Wasendorf; Sara (Tim) Holt; and Rion (Shari) Schwarz.

Also surviving are great-grandchildren: David, Olivia, and Joshua Powe; Emily and Reece Rayburn; Chase and Lexi Harrison; Chloe, Blaine, and Calvin Dohrmann; Natalie and Brian Williams; Kinley Zinnel; Jackson Anderson; Mercedi and Natalie Bauer; Elli and Layla Palma; Chloie and Elijah Caldemeyer; Maverick Guyer; Hagan Copper; Zac, Erik, and Audrey Wasendorf; Dylan Schwarz; Roman, Jagger, and Ellesyn Holt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ken in 2014, great-grandson Carter John; daughter-in-law Nancy Cook, siblings, Don Thomas, Lucille Gilley, Iva Davis and Maxine Fitkin.

Neva Elaine Thomas was born October 25, 1926 in Williamsburg, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Kathryn (Meir) Thomas. On March 17, 1946, she married Kenneth Lee Cook in Cedar Rapids, IA. Neva worked at Sears for 48 years, retiring in 2010.

“Grandma Cookie” was very proud of the family she created and enjoyed spending time with everyone. She loved having the family gather for meals, especially the holidays. Her specialty was baking cookies, living up to her nickname given by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Grandma Cookie”.
