Kevin J. Murray, MD died peacefully on July 20, 2017.  A private Funeral Mass was held for family at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky with burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kevin was born on August 26,1956 to John and Audrey Murray in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Purdue University going on to attend medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, graduating in 1982. He completed a residency in Radiation Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin staying as a Clinical Professor there until 2004. Dr Murray was a renowned pediatric radiation oncologist and saved the lives of many children who had cancer. He was very active in cancer research and published extensively while in academic practice. Dr. Murray moved to Cedar Rapids in 2004 where he continued to practice at the Hall Radiation Center until his death in 2017.

Survivors include his wife Janet Merfeld, MD, siblings Mary (Gary) Refinski, David (Viki) Murray, and Sue (George) Vuckovich of Wisconsin,  sisters-in-law Joan (John) Roberts of Marion, Pat (Owen) MacDonald of KS, Ellen (Jeff) Morrow of Cedar Rapids, brothers-in-law Mark (Julie) Merfeld of Des Moines, Tom (Ann) Merfeld of Wisconsin, and Jim (Sidney Anderson) Merfeld of Washington, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Ryan Refinski, and 2 golden retrievers Millie and Allie.

Memorials may be made to the Hall Perrine Cancer Center or the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Radiation Oncology.

The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Jasmine Nabi, her nurse Molly and his colleagues Drs. Lee, Reid, Wilbur, Kutteh, Wood and Stroh and the entire staff at the Hall Perrine Cancer Center for their care and support.
