Memorial
Robert Valley, 91, of Brandon passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at ABCM Rehab Center in Independence, surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5-7 at the Cedar Memorial Park Stateroom. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 14, at 10 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A graveside committal will immediately follow services where military honors will be accorded.
Robert was born on July 9, 1925; the son of Otto and Clarice (Severns) Valley. Robert served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II; and was a member of the American Legion as well as the VFW. He was a member of the Cement Finishers Union for more than 50 years. On May 14, 1946; Robert united in marriage with Wanda Lloyd; they shared 68 years together until her passing in 2015. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and enjoyed square dancing with Wanda.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Wanda.
Left to cherish Robert’s memories are his children Douglas (Deanna) Valley of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Gregory Valley of Jasper, Georgia; and Thomas (Julie) Valley of Brandon, IA; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that were close to him.
A memorial fund has been established.
