Evelyn N. Hollingsworth, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Evelyn was born February 21, 1939 in Wyoming, Iowa to Otto Thomas and Margaret Rachel (Usher) Petersen.  She was employed by Turner Microphone, then enjoyed providing childcare for family and friends.

Evelyn will be fondly remembered for her cooking, baking, candy-making, and celebrating the holidays with her family.  She was an animal lover.  Evelyn was very family-oriented, and loved to be surrounded by her kids, grandkids, extended family, and dear friends.

She is survived by her children Daniel (Sheryl) Kobusch and Douglas (Linda) Kobusch, all of Cedar Rapids; David Hollingsworth of Minnesota; Debra Hollingsworth; and Scott (Julie) Hollingsworth, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Dillon (Suzie) Kobusch and Angela Kobusch; Anthony and Mason Kobusch; Marie Poynor; Crystal and Carly Kobusch; Logan and Bailey Hollingsworth; and Heather (Danny) Franks; and great-grandchildren: Alex, Ethan, Ava, Aspen, Abby, Zander, and Olivia.

Also surviving are siblings Jim (Shirley) Petersen, Mary Lou Novak, and sisters-in-law Karen Petersen and Kathy Weber, all of Cedar Rapids. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings Marlene Hooper, Virginia Steggall, Thomas Petersen, and Peggy Joan Petersen.

A memorial in Evelyn’s name has been established.  

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Evelyn’s dear friends Richard Kula, Kathy Weber, Jackie Svoboda, and Ann Keller for their love and support, and her many neighbors who gave of their time, care, and friendship.

Evelyn was a treasured soul who was deeply loved and respected by her family.  Her legacy of devotion and generosity will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved her.
