Marian Hohensee, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday August 8, 2017 at Cottage Grove Place. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church, where a visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Burial to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Michael Erickson will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Marian was born on a farm west of Guttenberg, Iowa on April 19, 1931, the daughter of Albert and Martha (Backes) Rodenberg. She graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1948 and was employed by the former Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She retired from US West in Des Moines, Iowa following 36 years of service. Marian married Williard F. Hohensee at Bethany Lutheran Church on December 13, 1952 in Cedar Rapids.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, her brother, Harold Rodenberg and her sisters, Neva Crawford and Norma Butters.
She is survived by her sons, John (Beth) Hohensee of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mark Hohensee of Collinsville, Oklahoma, 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Orville Rodenberg of Rochester, New York, sister-in-law, Helen Rodenberg of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
