Amy Barnum, of Cedar Rapids, died April 1, 2017 of complications from metastatic breast cancer at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Amy was born on May 19, 1962 in Minneapolis, and grew up in Omaha. She attended the University of Iowa where she met Joel, her future husband. They were married on July 24, 1983 in Omaha and moved to Sunnyvale, CA, where she finished her BA in accounting at Santa Clara University, returning back to the Cedar Rapids area in 1985.

In Cedar Rapids, Amy worked as an accountant at Teleconnect and Life Investors, before retiring to be a full-time Mom. After the kids grew up, she took a part-time job at the Memorial Meadows senior apartment complex, eventually becoming the property manager.

Amy is survived by her husband Joel, daughters Emma Barnum (Sam Caster) of Iowa City, Sasha Anderson (Lance) of Cedar Rapids and Gail Barnum (special friend Garret Lunde) of Burnsville, MN. She is also mourned by her parents, Jack and Bette Kozlen of Omaha, her sister Becky Kozlen of Chicago and her two adorable grandsons, Dean and Henry Caster of Iowa City.

We would like to thank all of the doctors who provided Amy's care, especially Dr. Chirantan Ghosh and his staff, Dr Robert Silber and the amazing people at Hospice of Mercy, especially Amy's hospice nurse, Kris Sargent.

Amy touched many lives and everyone who knew her, loved her. She will be missed greatly.

Services will be held at on Monday, April 3 at Temple Judah in Cedar Rapids at 11AM, followed by burial at Eben Israel Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in memory of Amy.
