Mack Roland Gibson, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Going Home services: 11:00 am Saturday, September 17, 2016 at First Congregational Church, Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Rufus Johnson officiating. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Survivors include his children, Daisy Gibson of Flint, MI, Sarah McClinton of Burton, MI, Mack Gibson Jr. of Flint, MI, Lorinda Ampey of Marion, Rowland Gibson of Cedar Rapids, David Wright of Las Vegas, NV, Choyce Jackson of Cedar Rapids, Mercedes Robinson of Cedar Rapids, Eric John Gibson of Cedar Rapids, and Sharon Littleton of Atlanta, GA; brothers, William Earl Gibson and Edgar Gibson; also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son (Eric) and daughter (Merdido), three sisters (Jessie, Martha Ruth, Doris) and two brothers (Ernest, Wilford).

Mack Roland Gibson was born September 12, 1937 in Cedar Bluff, Mississippi, the son of Ernest and Sarah (Bell) Gibson. He served in the U.S. Navy and then served as an Airborne Ranger in the U.S. Army.

Memorial donations may be given in his name to the United Way.
