Memorial

Shirley Jean Bradwell, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at her home on October 9, 2016.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 3pm at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.  Burial will take place at a later time in Rock Island, IL.

Shirley was born on October 11, 1938 to John and Mildred Stepanek in Bachamon, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to Richard Bradwell on August 1, 1981 in Waterville, Maine.  Shirley worked as an LPN at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids and various other facilities in Iowa and Maine.  She was an avid painter, baker, and knitter, knitting hats, scarves, and mittens for her children and grandchildren, canning vegetables, and growing every kind of hosta you could imagine.  She was a cancer survivor, fight Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  Shirley’s family was very important to her and she was happiest when her grandchildren were around.

Shirley is survived by her loving children Eva (Bryan) Thompson, Laina Shuman, Teresa McFarlane, Verlan (Claudia) Klenk, Donetta (Robert) Auen, and Coreena Klenk; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, her sister  Joyce Hollingsworth..

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Richard, her parents, and an infant son John Robert Klenk.
