On November 10, 2016, Marc Maikon, 59, passed away after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's. He passed peacefully in his sleep holding the hand of his best friend, his wife, Tina.

Marc was born in April of 1957, the son of Sol and Sandy Maikon.   He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1976 and from Grinnell College with a BA in 1980. Continuing his education, he earned his BS from The University of Iowa in 1982. In order to follow his dream of being a doctor he went on to study at the University of Osteopathic Medicine & Health Science.  He graduated from there in 1986 and finally earning his doctorate  from the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines in 1988. After finally completing his education, he started his own practice, Family Foot Care Center, where he practiced for the last 20 years.  One of the happiest days of Marc’s life was when he got to marry his love, Tina.  A family man at heart, one of Marc’s favorite things was spending time with his family.  Marc was a member of many associations and boards, including the Iowa Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons, and Sigma Gamma Epsilon. He was also a member of the Mt. Herman Lodge #263 AF&AM since 2002, where he was a Senior DeMolay. Marc will be remembered most for his infectious smile, sense of humor and the ability to strike a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed Nascar, golf and cheering on the Hawkeyes. 

He is survived by his wife, his parents, his children, Stephanie (Josiah)Sweers, Andrew Erenberger, Miriam (Jeremy Lemke)  Maikon , and Sarah Maikon and his beloved dog, Laci. 

A visitation for Marc will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral home on Wednesday, November 16 from 4- 7 pm.  A brief service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to family.
