Rod and Susan.. Words cannot express how sorry we were to hear of Nik's passing. We did not know Nik but read of all his accomplishments. What a wonderful son you raised!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and his wife Moleigh. God Bless you all. Dan and Betsy Meloan

Moleigh--I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. Your family talked so much about him when I saw them in the office and I loved seeing your wedding pictures when your mom was in. I just found out that my niece's husband knew Nik from the fraternity. He said he was a great guy. I pray that God will give you peace that surpasses all understanding.

Rod and family: My sympathy goes out to your entire family in the loss of your son.

Rod: I am so sorry hear about your loss. I was so shocked and saddened when Rhonda called me last night, it sounds like he fought hard and yet had the joy of marring his love. My prayers will be with you in the days ahead. Take comfort in family and friends, remember the good times.

My dear friend Rod: There are no words to describe how saddened I was to see the news of your son's passing. Please know that I will be thinking of you and your entire family in the days to come and remembering you in my prayers. I'll be in Cedar Rapids the next 2 weeks for my brother's surgery, and if you can find the time I would love to have lunch with you. Please email me if there is anything I can do to help while I'm home. Debbie

Sue & Rod: I can still hear the laughs when Nik and Joe were the best of buds in grade school. Nik was always a sweetheart under the watchful eye of two great parents. I was lucky enough to see him a few times at Hy Vee with Rod to see what a handsome, gracious young man he had turned in to. Always the little boy smile I remember so well. We were ALL lucky to have him in our lives. My prayers are with you, that you find comfort in the love of family and friends. I am so sorry for your tremendous loss.

Nik was a student in my class at Xavier during his freshman year. Around Easter of the spring of 2008, I was visiting the Czech Museum when I ran into Nik and his Mom in the gift shop. It seems that Nik was looking for the perfect Easter Egg to add to his Dad's collection. Just a few weeks later flood waters filled the museum and I wondered if anyone would ever shop there again. My vivid memory of that day was that Nik wasn't embarrassed to be seen with his Mother while selecting a gift for his Father when he encountered his Geometry teacher. Every time I travel 16th avenue, my mind goes back to the former museum location and day the I ran into that High school student who wasn't worried about making a tough guy impression like so many others. But that just wasn't Nik's way. It is indeed fitting that memories of Nik will be shared in that same Museum. Just as the egg is a symbol of new life at Easter, the Czech Museum is a symbol of new life in the village. Nik has now moved on to his new everlasting life. He was a great kid and has touched many lives. For me he will always be the kid in the Museum gift shop studying the intricately decorated eggs. Thank you for sharing him with me and the Xavier community for four years. My sympathy in your loss. God bless you all. Barbara Glass

Rod, Sue and Moleigh, No words can express the sympathy and anguish that so many are feeling right now at the death of dear, sweet Nik. The memorial service was beautiful and it was evident how many people's lives he touched by how many people were at the service. Nik was a joy to teach with an eternal smile and two wonderful, supportive parents. May you find peace and comfort through your many friends and relatives at this most difficult and tragic time in your lives.

Rod, I just now saw this and wanted to offer my sympathy for the loss of your son.
