Irma (Witt) O’Connor, 89, of Cedar Rapids died Monday, March 21, 2016 at Northbrook Manor Care Center.   Private graveside services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.   

Theona Irma Witt was born May 17, 1926 in Ossian, Iowa to Nellie (Thornton) and John Henry Witt.  She graduated from Ossian High School with the class of 1943.  She was a star basketball player for Ossian who averaged 40+ points a game.  Irma was one of the very first female line foreman at Collin’s Radio and retired in 1985 after 25 years of service.  

Irma married Irwin O’Connor on September 11, 1944.  Their children are: Tom (Patricia) O’Connor of Oskaloosa; Sue O’Connor (Marvin Hardy) of Wapello; Mary Etta (Rick) Zorn of Cedar Rapids; Dan (Bev) O’Connor of Mt Vernon; Janice Boesenberg of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin in 2001, and a grandson, Paul Goodwin in 1990.
