Dear Cousins,
How sad I was to receive Lijun's call that sweet Uncle Bob passed away. What a dear man. His life long work in Cedar Rapids will not be forgotten, so much of him is in so many buildings and people's creative lives! I know too well how much that you all will miss him. I am praying for your comfort in the weeks ahead. I'm so grateful that i got to see you all last Christmas at the house and got to hug Uncle Bob. Candace and I ran into him when we visited Lijun at the office in the Cherry building. He was walking out and stopped when he saw us. A big smile spread across his face when he saw us and we hugged again and again. (: Darling man. Love to you all, Cousin Caroline

Dear Chadima Family,
His wonderful family, you, reflect your father's character. Dedication to family, church and community are the values that brought you into my sphere and I am thankful for that - to know you a bit.
Deepest sympathy.

I have been lucky to have had Bob as a friend since the late 1930s at Cedar Rapids Franklin, then a Junior and Senior high school. We were football teammates. Bob was an honor student and president of his 1943 senior class. He led by example then as he did throughout his full and accomplished life.

To the entire Chadima family,
We are so very sorry to learn of Bob's sudden death. He was a joy to be around! His enthusiasm, energy and creativity were boundless. Bob and my mother, Katharine Safely Echhorn, went to Franklin together and they enjoyed attending Franklin alumni breakfasts. He was such a happy person and he love the arts.
We hope your faith, family and fond memories will sustain you at this time.

I lack the eloquence as I write this to properly put into words how much my grandfather meant to me. He was the foundation of our family, the rock that all our lives were built on. We were overjoyed when he met Joan and they got married, so delighted in their happiness and zest for life. Grandpa was always someone I looked up to, and who shared his love for the world and learning with me. I will miss him very much.
Love,
Jonathan

Just today I learned Bob Is no longer with us. Please know Bob was a well respected member of our industrial gas / welding supply industry. I learned much from Bob's calm and quiet style... a true gentleman, friend and visionary. I am sure God has enthisistacilly welcomed him to the other side of the mountain.
