Cleo Donald Madeson was born on November 12, 1921 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Olie and Ella Madeson.  He proudly served in the Navy during WWII.  Cleo married Doris on April 1, 1942 in Lancaster, Missouri.  He worked for Iowa Manufacturing, New Era Tool and Die in Cedar Rapids, Johnson Tool and Die, and Thomas and Betts Corp. in Iowa City.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion.  Cleo enjoyed traveling with his wife; they especially enjoyed trips to Florida.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working, and time spent with his family.  He will be dearly missed by his family and all who loved him.

Memorial donations may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Marion or the Iowa Donor Network.

Cleo will be remembered as an amazing grandpa, great-grandpa, war veteran, woodworker, storyteller, fisherman, likely the man that said “goddammitt” more than anyone else in the world, and so much more.  His family is thankful for all of the memories and all that Cleo taught them.  “We lost a true gem today.”
