Larry Roger Lewis, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1622 42nd Street NE, Cedar Rapids, officiated by Pastor Todd Hart.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to service at the church.  A reception in Larry’s honor will follow.  Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Beulah Beach Conference Center, 6101 West Lake Road, Vermilion, Ohio 44089.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to service.

Larry was born May 20, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John and Marie (Ball) Lewis.  After graduating from high school, Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force.  He served honorably from 1955 until 1959.  He was united in marriage to Nancy L. Root on July 3, 1956 in San Antonio, Texas.  To this union, four children were born.

Larry worked as a transportation supervisor for CW Transport LLC and Old Dominion Freight.  He retired in 2003.

Larry is survived by his wife of sixty years, Nancy; daughter Kim Anne of Eugene, Oregon; son Milan Lewis of Toledo, Ohio; daughter Jeanne (Steve) Jellison of Cedar Rapids; and son Tim Lewis of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren: John (Kehau) Hershner of Walton, Oregon; Heidi (Corey) Taylor of Booneville, Indiana; Gaby and Marian Allen of Bakersfield, California; Grace and Emma Jellison of Cedar Rapids; and Jacob Lewis, United States Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Also surviving are five great-grandchildren: Nasayah Hershner of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jonathan and Sarah Carney; Keller Hary; and Mia Taylor, all of Booneville, Indiana; and two sisters: Wanda “Sissy” (Joe) Gonzales and Sondra Clark, both of Mansfield, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Inez Lewis; and brother Rick Allen.
