Memorial
Kathryn Verna Hiller Justice, 98, of Robins, IA joined Christ in Heaven on August 1, 2016. A loving wife, mother, grandmother - her family is forever grateful for her life and legacy.
Kathryn was born on September 3, 1917 at the family home in rural Louisa County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Justice, her parents, three siblings, and a son-in-law, Eugene Schmidt. She is survived by her and Harold’s nine children: Dr. Robert (Ruth) Justice, Joan (Daryl) Spilde, Barbara (David) Stumbo, John (Patty) Justice, Dr. James (Sherrie) Justice, Mary (Perry) Johnson, Elizabeth Schmidt, Janice (Randall) Hartman, Christine (Mark) Awbrey, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Kathryn graduated as class valedictorian of Wapello High School in 1935 and went on to earn her B.S. in Mathematics and Physics at the University of Northern Iowa (formerly Iowa State Teacher’s College). Kathryn taught in the Marion School District until marrying Harold in July 1943. Harold’s service in the U.S. Navy took them to California, where Kathryn worked at the University of California at Berkeley on Oppenheimer’s Manhattan Project.
Kathryn had a strong faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For much of her life she was involved in many church activities - developing and leading many Bible studies. In her later years, her handiwork reached many people around the world as a witness to the Gospel of Christ. Kathryn demonstrated her great enthusiasm for Christ to all she knew. Her proudest life achievement is having taught and lived out the love of Christ to her family.
