JoAnn Merta, 81, of Marion, passed away on October 8, 2015 at Bickford Cottage in Marion. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday October 12 from 4-7 pm.
JoAnn was born on August 11, 1934 in Anamosa, Iowa to parents Eugene and Dolores McCormick. She is a 1951 graduate of Springville High School. On October 24, 1953 JoAnn married Eldon Merta in Cedar Rapids. JoAnn worked in data entry and retired from Firstar Bank in 1995.
She is Survived by her children; David (Mona) Merta, Mark (Kandi) Merta, Debra Merta-David, grandchildren: Matthew Merta, Ashley Merta, Jordan David, Kinsey Merta, Cayson Merta, Branden Skorcz, Haydn Skorcz and Alicia Misenar; sister Evelyn Cheesbrough; Special Cousin Clorene Kray; half-brothers Gary Mullen and Steven Page.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister: Leola Boren; brother: Laverne McCormick.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association for Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy research.
