Mary P. Raney of Kansas City, KS went to be with her Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2015. She was born on March 22, 1948. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School before marrying Joe Raney. Throughout their lives together they’ve lived in Arkansas, Oregon, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Kansas. Mary was an LPN and later earned an Associate’s Degree of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse. She practiced nursing for over 35 years.
Mary liked the outdoors; in her younger years, she was an accomplished Girl Scout earning her Gold Award. Mary thoroughly enjoyed music and had a song for every situation. She had an undying passion for her grandchildren and was known by all to have a caring heart and a listening ear with the gift of encouragement. Mary spent much time reading her Bible and in prayer. She was a faithful member of Victory Hills Church of the Nazarene for nearly 30 years where she lovingly served her community.
Mary is survived by and was married to her husband Joe Raney of Kansas City, KS for 49 years. She is also survived by her son R. Wayne Scott and daughter-in-law Kim of Warwick North Central, Bermuda, granddaughters Samantha O’Bannon and Amanda Scott; her son Joe Raney and daughter-in-law Michelle Raney of Marietta, GA, grandson Ian Phillips and granddaughters Alexa Phillips and Ellis Raney; her son Steve Raney and daughter-in-law Tonya Raney of Chesapeake, VA, grandsons Andrew and Tanner Raney; daughter Diana Smreka and son-in-law Dejan Smreka of Kansas City, KS, grandson Teo Smreka; daughter Jessica Haskell and son-in-law Josh Haskell of Cedar Rapids, IA, grandsons Connor and Kaleb Haskell and granddaughter Lily Haskell. Mary is also survived by her brother Mike Dolph and sister-in-law Rose Dolph of Kodiak, AK.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Victory Hills Church of the Nazarene; 6200 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66104. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to HELP317 Community Food Pantry c/o Victory Hills Church of the Nazarene.
