Mavis Elaine Van Bogart, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died May 21, 2015 at Northbrook Manor Care Center. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. .

Survivors include her children; Rhea Van Bogart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dot (Jim) LaGrange of West Union, Iowa; Rhonda (Randy) Stallman of Shellsburg, Iowa;  Delvin “Butch” (Heather) Van Bogart of Kiowa, Colorado; Kent Van Bogart of Hiawatha, Iowa; Kim (Bart) Gingrich of Marion; Iowa and Darcy (Pete) Oates of Hiawatha, Iowa; daughter in law, Ruthann Van Bogart of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Van Bogart, her sons, Dennis and Randy Van Bogart, her siblings; Maxine, Betty, Marion, Russell and a grandson, Brett Van Bogart.

Mavis was born June 22, 1920, in Sanborn, Iowa, the daughter of Gustav and Martha (LeRette) Radloff. She married the love of her life, Ervin Van Bogart on Christmas Day in 1938. She was a loving homemaker always caring for her family. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and Order of The Eastern Star. Mavis worked at Armstrong’s Department Store, Amana Refrigeration, and retired to Arizona in 1978. She then returned to Cedar Rapids in 2001, living at Kingston Hill until 2008, moving to Northbrook Manor. She spent her last years at Kingston Hill and Northbrook Manor enjoying the staff, friends, family, music and dance. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Luke’s Hospice and Northbrook Manor for the loving care they gave to Mavis.
