Margaret “Peggy” Ann Newmire, 65, of Cedar Rapids, entered her heavenly home on Monday, June 29, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Her devotion to her family and her faith in God gave her peace.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 – 6:30 pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. 
 
Peggy was blessed with a large and loving family.  Survivors include her best friend and husband of 24 years, Ron Newmire; three sons, Bret (Michelle) George of Missoula, MT, Andrew George of St. Louis, MO, and Christopher George of Marion, IA; two grandchildren, Caleb and Tessa George, of Marion, IA; Stepmother, Edna Neville of Toledo, IA; six siblings, Eugene (Pat) Neville of Westminster, SC, Phil (Louanne) Neville of Cedar Rapids, IA,  DeLynn (Dick) Rucker of Las Vegas, NV, Pam Braye of Marion, IA, Patricia (Steve) Cavanaugh of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Miranda (Tony) Kurtt of West Des Moines, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Peggy was born on January 15, 1950, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of William and Vaneta (Starr) Neville.  She was married to and later divorced from Michael Murphy and Michael George.  Peggy and Ron Newmire were married on December 22, 1990.  Peggy spent most of her adult career in the transportation industry, and had been President of the Cedar Rapids Transportation Club.  Peggy was an Account Executive at Con-way, Inc.  She loved camping, white water rafting in Montana, motorcycle trips with Ron, finding bargains at thrift stores, spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, and sitting on her deck watching the birds and nature.  In her final days, this was her Eden, where she found great peace.
 
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, William Neville and Vaneta Braye, Stepfather, Don Braye, and sister, Becky Howe-Tapper.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105.

The family would like to thank all the staff from Mercy Hospice for their love and support given to Peggy.
