Lester C. Steward, 87, of Cedar Rapids died Friday July 24, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10:00 AM on Wednesday. Rev. Rev. Ron Rafferty will officiate. Burial with military rites at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy; five sons, Dennis of Clinton, Ronald (Donna) and Rick (Brenda) all of DeWitt, Terry (Sandy) of Moline and Thomas (Kelly) of Des Moines; and two daughter Trisha (Tom) Ashley of Florida and Pamela (Randy) Smith of South Carolina. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by a son, Jeff, a daughter Judy, two brothers Virgil and Vernon and a sister Marion.

Les was born on September 28, 1927 in Scott County, Iowa the son of Guy and Margaret Schwegler Steward. He married Evelyn Paarmann and they were later divorced. He later married Dorothy L. Taylor on August 5, 1975 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 

Les was the manager at Linn Jones County Farm Service and retired from there after more than 18 years of service. He had been a former member of the American Legion and proudly served in the Army during WWII. He enjoyed playing cards, travel, going to dances, visiting with family and friends, and many outdoor activities.

Les was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
