Donald D. Sedrel, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday July 15, 2015. He was born in Pella, Iowa, on May 22, 1940 and is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Sedrel, and brother, Larry (Sandy) Sedrel. He graduated from Kemper Military School. They were married on August 24, 1963. They had two children, Tracy D. Sedrel and Kelly A. Sedrel, three grandchildren, Zachary, Codi and Trent Sedrel and one great grandchild, Emmy Sedrel.

He served in the Army from 1960 to 1963 with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a Fire Fighter for 33 years with the Cedar Rapids Fire Department. He loved his wife of 52 years and family. He served the Lord Jesus Christ and loved the many pets and horses he had over the years. He was a member of Cedar Rapids Horseman’s Club. He loved riding his Heritage Classic Harley Davison with his friends making numerous trips to Sturgis. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Verlin “Stretch” Sedrel and step mother, Isabelle and maternal mother, Margaret Parkhurst.

A Visitation will be held Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the C.R.F.D Chaplin James Coyle. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
