I was saddened to learn of Leslie's death. My thoughts go to her family. Leslie, and many of her family, were amazingly helpful in the early days of the Indian Creek Nature Center in the 1970's and 1980's. Leslie was a gifted and dedicated teacher-naturalist who shared her love of nature with thousands of children over the years. She helped make ours a better world, and I appreciate her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you grieve the loss of Leslie. I first met her as an experienced Teacher-naturalist at Indian Creek Nature Center. She was a mentor new volunteers which I was at the time. She was an excellent teacher teacher who encouraged many, both young and old, to explore, to care for the earth and to share their passion . Jan Aiels, Indian Creek Nature Center

Leslie and her family were wonderful assets to the community and Indian Creek Nature Center. I always appreciated her down to earth nature, great smile and twinkling eyes and ways she guided children in the school programs.

Pat, Mike, & Bob, time overtakes us all. The past is past never to be reclaimed; remember the good times. Your mother was a generous and helpful woman; my wife enjoyed the conversations they had at the tractor shows. Parents are difficult to understand; but understanding will likely come as you all mature. Bob, keep busy; but if the tears flow; know this: grown men do cry! Whether entering into an after life, or eternal sleep, may the Lord bless and keep her. Don Calkins CLU

I was so sorry to read that Leslie died. She was a friend and a great asset to the Cedar Valley Rocks & Minerals Society. She was a past editor, librarian until this past summer - always trying to make our books available to members - meticulously kept the club history for many years to the present, worked many years at the show, helped with advertising the show, stored and kept track of a lot of club items, and helped wherever she could. My fondest memories of Leslie are the many days we spent digging bison bones from the Marion peat bog, documenting the dig as best we could and learning to preserve the bones. She took good care of Robert and was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchilden. My deepest sympathy to all of you.

I will miss leslie's smile and good cheer. I met her through Cedar Valley Rock & Mineral Society meetings. When I was new to the organization , she was always ready share her knowledge with me. Leslie faithfully brought books and magazines to every meeting for us rock, mineral and fossil hounds to read and enjoy. My sincere sympqthy to Leslies's family and many friends. I was so sadden when seeing that your mother had passed away. It was just about a month ago that I had seen her and she seemed to be in good health. My thoughts and sympathy go out to you all with her passing. Errol Lindsey
