Memorial

Donald A. Ahrens, 91 of Georgetown, Texas formerly of Cedar Rapids died Monday January 5, 2015 at the Brookdale Georgetown Nursing Home. Services with military rites at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter Donna (Joseph) Russo of Naples, Florida and a son Gary (Amy) of Downing, Missouri. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife.

Don was born on January 6, 1923 in Manteno, Illinois the son of Arthur and Irene Kunde Ahrens. He married O. Lucille Jackson on February 17, 1946 in Wilmington, Illinois. Lucille passed away in 2006. 

Don was a Tech Sgt. retiring from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service. He proudly served in WWII. He later worked at Goss Printing for several years. 

Don enjoyed wood working, travel, especially his trip to China and the time spent with his friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and love him. He will be greatly missed.
